Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Block 15 SouthTown is exactly what you'd expect from a brewery taproom that's very proud of its beer: two bottles, both made in-house, and zero pretense that wine is a priority here. It's not an insult — it's honest. This is a beer destination that happens to pour wine for whoever asks.
Two wines. That's it. Block 15 makes both in-house, which at least gives the list some identity — you're not staring at a random Kendall-Jackson sitting warm on a shelf. The Chalet Rouge 2021 is a Rhône-style red blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier, pulling from Red Mountain AVA fruit in Washington, which is a legitimately interesting grape source. The Shooting Star 2023 is a Rosé of Syrah. There's no depth to explore, no old world anchor, no by-the-glass variety — just two house wines that exist to cover the bases.
Both wines are available by the glass, which is the entire by-the-glass program. Two options — a red blend and a rosé — is enough to get by, but there's no rotation, no seasonal additions, and no reason to revisit the wine list on your next visit.
Block 15 Shooting Star 2023 Rosé of Syrah — Unknown
At a taproom price point, a house-made Rosé of Syrah from a brewery that actually cares about craft is a better glass than whatever generic rosé your average bar pours. It's light, it's refreshing, and it fits the casual vibe without demanding much from you.
Block 15 Chalet Rouge 2021 Red Blend
Most people walk in here and go straight for a pint. But a Syrah-Grenache-Viognier blend from Red Mountain fruit is a serious grape combination — the same Rhône formula that drives some of Washington's best reds. At taproom prices, it punches above its context.
Block 15 Shooting Star 2023 Rosé of Syrah
If you came in for wine specifically, you're in the wrong place — and even this house rosé, decent as it is, won't scratch that itch. You're better off ordering one of their acclaimed beers and saving the wine night for somewhere that means it.
Block 15 Chalet Rouge 2021 Red Blend + Unknown — menu details unavailable
A Rhône-style red with Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier would hold up well against anything savory and rich on the menu — think charcuterie, burgers, or anything with umami depth. Without confirmed dish names we can't get specific, but it's the kind of red that earns its keep next to food.
❌ The Bottom Line
Block 15 SouthTown is a great taproom with a wine list that's a footnote. Come for the beer — if a friend insists on wine, the Chalet Rouge won't embarrass anyone, but this isn't a wine destination by any stretch.
North Corvallis · Corvallis · Italian
We wouldn't send a friend here for the wine — we'd tell them to order a cocktail, eat the breadsticks, and save the bottle for a restaurant that actually cares. The Willamette Valley is thirty minutes north; drink there instead.

North Corvallis · Corvallis · Casual American
This is a sports bar with a wine section, not a wine bar that happens to have sports. Order a beer, order a cocktail, order the boneless wings — just don't come here expecting anything from the wine list.

Garfield's wine list is fine if you need a glass of something recognizable after a long drive to Corvallis — it won't embarrass itself, but it won't impress anyone either. If wine actually matters to you tonight, this probably isn't your stop.

McMenamins On Monroe is not a wine destination — it's a pub that does wine responsibly and without embarrassment. Send a friend here if they want something decent by the glass without a markup hangover, but tell them to save their Willamette Valley deep-dive for somewhere with more ambition.

Caves Corvallis is the rare place where a two-wine list feels like a curatorial decision rather than neglect — if you're the kind of person who gets excited by Georgian amber wines at $8 a glass, this tiny downtown bistro is punching well above its weight. Send a curious friend, not a Cabernet loyalist.
