Walking into Bedrock's tasting room feels less like a winery visit and more like dropping into a friend's cellar who happens to make some of the most interesting old-vine wines in California. The list is short — this is a producer tasting room, not a restaurant — but every bottle on it earns its spot. No filler, no tourism traps, just wines that actually say something about the land they came from.
Bedrock's list runs 15-25 wines deep, all own-label, all rooted in Sonoma Valley and the broader North Coast. The focus on old-vine California heritage varieties is the real draw here — this isn't a Chardonnay-and-Cab operation. The Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Wine is a field blend pulled from pre-Prohibition vines, the kind of bottle that makes you rethink what California wine is supposed to taste like. Syrah shows up in two forms — a North Coast entry point and a Sonoma Valley expression — which gives you a legitimate lens into how place shapes the grape. The gap is obvious: if you want Burgundy, Barolo, or anything outside Bedrock's own portfolio, you're in the wrong room.
Six to twelve pours available on any given visit, rotating through the current portfolio. That's a meaningful range for a tasting room, and the structure here leans toward guided flights rather than casual by-the-glass ordering — which is actually the move, since the staff knows how to walk you through the lineup in a way that makes the wines land harder. Don't expect a loose glass of Zinfandel at the bar; expect a focused experience with context.

Old-vine Zinfandel from Sonoma at this price point is increasingly hard to find without compromising on quality. Bedrock's version is the real thing — not jammy fruit-bomb territory, but structured, site-driven, and worth every dollar.
Bedrock Wine Co. Evangelho Vineyard Heritage Wine
Most visitors walk past this one in favor of the Zinfandel or Cabernet, which is a mistake. The Evangelho Vineyard is one of the oldest continuously farmed vineyards in California, and this field blend captures something genuinely irreplaceable — history in a bottle that most people have never heard of.
Bedrock Wine Co. Sonoma Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bedrock makes it well enough, but Cabernet Sauvignon is not their identity play. If you're coming here for a Napa-adjacent Cab fix, you're missing the point of the entire list. Save the pour for something Bedrock actually does better than anyone else.
Bedrock Wine Co. Sonoma Valley Syrah + Rotating chef pop-up charcuterie and seasonal small plates
Syrah's savory, pepper-driven character cuts through cured meat fat and plays well with whatever roasted or braised element the rotating kitchen throws at it. It's flexible enough for the pop-up format without losing its personality.

Bedrock is not a wine list — it's a focused argument for why old-vine California deserves your full attention. If you're in Sonoma and you skip this, you're doing it wrong.

The markups on trophy bottles are hard to ignore, but if you play the Wall smart, you'll drink far better here than almost anywhere else in Healdsburg.
