Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Barro's Chandler is three lines long — and we mean that literally. Cab, Chard, Pinot Grigio, all $6, no producers listed, no context given. This is a pizza chain that has technically checked the 'we have wine' box and moved on with its life.
Three unnamed California varietal wines is not a wine program — it's a placeholder. There's no producer information, no vintage, no region beyond the broad 'California' label, which could mean anything from a bulk Central Valley pour to something passable. The list hasn't been curated so much as assembled. If you're looking for depth, regional diversity, or even a second Cab option, you won't find it here.
All three wines are available by the glass at $6, which is the entire by-the-glass program because it is also the entire wine program. No rotation, no seasonal additions, no surprises. To Barro's credit, $6 a glass is an honest price for what this almost certainly is.
Pinot Grigio — $6
At $6 a glass with no producer to disappoint you, the Pinot Grigio is the least risky call — light, cold, and it won't fight the pizza.
Chardonnay
Nobody ordering pizza at Barro's is reaching for the Chardonnay, which makes it the underdog pick. At $6 it's a low-stakes curiosity, and if it lands even slightly buttery, it's a better match for the white pies than you'd expect.
Cabernet
A nameless California Cab at a pizza counter is almost certainly too tannic and too warm for the job. Beer beats it every time here.
Pinot Grigio + Pepperoni Pizza
The Pinot Grigio's lightness means it won't clash with the grease and salt of a pepperoni pie — it just stays out of the way, which is the best you can ask for here.
❌ The Bottom Line
Barro's is a solid family pizza spot where the beer list does all the heavy lifting. Come for the pizza, order a cold one, and leave the wine list to someone who asked for it.
North Chandler · Chandler · Steakhouse
Black Angus Chandler is a perfectly competent place to drink a glass of California Cab with a decent steak — just don't come here expecting the wine to be the reason you showed up. Send a friend here if they want comfort and familiarity; send them elsewhere if they actually want to drink well.

Shimogamo isn't a wine destination, but it's a sushi restaurant that quietly did its homework on wine — and that's rarer than it should be. If you're coming for the omakase or the A5 Wagyu, the Picpoul or the Koshu will take care of you without drama.

Kodo's wine list won't win any awards, but at these prices and with this much sushi to distract you, it doesn't need to. Order the Riesling, eat the rolls, be happy.

Shula's is a reliable, if unambitious, steakhouse wine list — it nails the basics for its audience and pairs fine with a $60 steak, but you're paying resort rates for grocery-store-shelf California wine without much effort behind the curation. Go in knowing that, order the Jordan, and enjoy your beef.

Ko'Sin is a reliable resort wine program that plays it safe and charges you accordingly for the privilege. Come for the views and the food, order a glass of something local if they've got it, and don't expect the list to challenge you.

Kai is a Wild Card because you don't expect this level of wine seriousness tucked inside a resort hotel on the Gila River Indian Community — and yet here we are. The markups are real and the list plays it relatively safe, but the setting, the staff, and the overall execution make it worth the splurge if you're already committing to dinner here.
