The list opens with a confidence that catches you off guard for a suburban Irving strip — 48 bottles, all available by the glass, built around Iberian DNA but willing to wander into Uruguay, Argentina, Germany, and beyond. It's not a typical wine bar hedge; someone actually thought about this. The price ceiling of $93 keeps things accessible, and the floor at $36 means you're not stuck with mystery juice just to save money.
Spain anchors the list the way it should — Albariño, Verdejo, Mencía, Garnacha Blanca, Viura Malvasia — but the curation doesn't stop at the Pyrenees. You've got a Petit Manseng blend from 1752 Gran Tradicion, an Alvarinho from Portugal's Bico Amarelo, and a Riesling from Haus Rothenberg that has no business being this interesting on a tapas list. The skin-contact and natural wine section adds genuine personality: Le Naturel Garnacha Blanca and B.R.O.T. Blanc Inicial signal that whoever built this list was paying attention to what's actually happening in wine right now. Gaps exist — if you want serious Rioja or Ribera del Duero depth you'll have to look elsewhere — but as a breadth play, this list punches well above its Irving zip code.
Every single bottle on the list is available by the glass, which is either a logistical miracle or a commitment to freshness they'd better be honoring with proper preservation equipment. Glass pours run $6–$16, which in 2024 is genuinely reasonable — you can work through five or six different pours and still leave under $80 before food. The range by the glass is legitimately one of the best in the region for anyone who wants to explore without committing to a bottle.
Bico Amarelo Alvarinho 2023 — $36
The cheapest bottle on the list and it's a proper Alvarinho from Portugal — not a filler pick. Bright, saline, and built for seafood-forward tapas. At $36 in a restaurant context, this is the kind of bottle that makes you order a second one without checking your phone.
Ostatu Viura Malvasia 2025
Most tables skip anything called Viura Malvasia because they have no idea what it is — and that's exactly why you should order it. This is white Rioja territory, textured and food-friendly in a way that Albariño and Verdejo just aren't. At $58 it's not cheap, but it's the most interesting white on the list that nobody's pointing at.
Christophe Avi Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2025
A Cab Sauv rosé on a Spanish wine bar list is already raising eyebrows, and at $48 it's competing against far more interesting pours. Nothing wrong with it in a vacuum, but in this context it's the safe order for someone who stopped reading the list too early.
Liquid Geography Mencía 2024 + Jamón Ibérico
Mencía is one of Spain's best-kept secrets — earthy, dark-fruited, with a savory edge that cuts right through the fat of cured Ibérico. At $44 a bottle it's the kind of red that makes the whole tapas experience click into place.
The Bottom Line
Barcelona Wine Bar in Irving shouldn't be this good, and yet here we are — a 48-bottle all-by-the-glass list with real depth, fair prices, and a genuine point of view. If you're anywhere near this part of Dallas, it's worth a detour just for the wine.
