Wingman Metrics
The wine list at Sara's Table is exactly what you'd expect from a beloved neighborhood cafe that leads with its food: short, approachable, and built around names most people recognize. There's no pretense here, which is both the charm and the ceiling. You're not going to find anything to geek out over, but you're also not going to feel lost.
The list leans hard on California with a couple of international ringers tossed in — Crios Malbec from Mendoza and Kim Crawford's Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc are doing the globe-trotting heavy lifting. Bogle, La Crema, Terra d'Oro, and Chateau St. Jean fill out the domestic side, which is a solid collection of grocery-store-aisle favorites rather than anything adventurous. There's nothing wrong with any of these wines — they're crowd-tested for good reason — but the list hasn't been pushed or curated with much intention beyond reliability. If you were hoping for a Willamette Valley Pinot or a funky Rhône-style white to go with the wild rice burger, you're out of luck.
About 8-10 pours are available by the glass in the $8-$11 range, which is reasonable for Duluth and keeps things accessible. The selection mirrors the bottle list — familiar names, no real surprises, but enough variety to cover the table. Don't expect rotation or seasonal additions; this program has a "set it and forget it" energy.
Terra d'Oro Zinfandel — $30
It's the most personality you'll find on this list. Amador County Zin has the body and fruit to hold up against the cafe's heartier dishes, and at $30 a bottle it drinks above its price point relative to the other options here.
Crios de Susana Balbo Malbec
Most people at a Duluth cafe are reaching for the Cab, but Susana Balbo's Crios is a smarter pour — riper, softer, and more food-friendly than the Bogle or Chateau St. Jean. It's an underrated pick from a serious producer and it costs the same $30.
Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon
A $12 retail bottle at $28-$30 is a 133% markup on one of the most commoditized Cabs in California. It's not a bad wine, but you're paying a steep premium for something you've had at every casual restaurant in America. The money is better spent elsewhere on this list.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc + Huevos Rancheros
The bright citrus and grassy snap of a Marlborough Sauv Blanc cuts through the richness of egg yolk and bean, while its acidity plays off the heat of the salsa. It's a morning-into-afternoon kind of pairing that actually works.
✔️ The Bottom Line
Sara's Table is a genuinely great neighborhood cafe, and the wine list is perfectly functional — just don't come here hoping to discover something new. If you want wine that won't fight your meal and won't empty your wallet entirely, it does the job; if wine is the point of your evening, you'll want to look elsewhere in Duluth.
Woodland · Duluth · Pizza, American Grill
Bulldog Pizza & Grill is a perfectly good neighborhood pizza spot that has no business being evaluated for its wine program, because there isn't really one. Drink the beer, enjoy the pizza, and save your wine curiosity for a different night.

Miller Hill · Duluth · Italian
Come for the never-ending pasta bowl and the breadsticks; the wine program is an afterthought that charges you for the privilege of being ignored. If you want a real glass of wine with dinner, this is not your night.

Canal Park · Duluth · Casual Italian / American
Green Mill is a solid pizza-and-a-beer kind of place, and the wine list knows it — it's not trying to be anything more than a functional afterthought. Send a friend here for deep dish and a cold drink, not for the wine.

Fitger's Complex · Duluth · Hotel Restaurant / American
Lake Avenue Café shouldn't have a wine list this interesting — and that's exactly why you should pay attention to it. If you're passing through Duluth or staying at Fitger's, make a Wednesday reservation and work the half-price list.

Lincoln Park · Duluth · Thai
Thai by Thai isn't here to impress a wine crowd, and that's completely fine — at $7 a glass and $27 a bottle, this is a no-stress, just-drink-something spot where the food is the reason you came anyway. Order the Kung Fu Girl Riesling, get the Drunken Noodle, and stop overthinking it.

Downtown · Duluth · Indian
India Palace is a genuinely solid spot for Indian food in Duluth, but the wine program is collecting dust. Steep markups, a California-only list that ignores everything that actually works with spiced cuisine, and zero signs of anyone caring enough to change it — order a mango lassi and save the wine for somewhere else.
