Lofty Pursuits is a genuinely fun candy-and-dessert destination, but the wine program is strictly incidental — two Crane Lake labels marked up 261% don't deserve your $18. Order the ice cream, skip the wine.

Food Glorious Food is a genuinely lovely neighborhood spot where the wine list plays a supporting role — competently, if unspectacularly. Markups are on the steeper side and the selection won't challenge anyone, but if you're here for the rotating daily specials and a relaxed lunch, there's enough on the list to make it work.

The Huntsman is a genuinely solid wine destination for Tallahassee, backed by real sommelier talent and a Wednesday half-price night that makes the steep markups much easier to stomach. It's not the most adventurous list in Florida, but it's executed with care and served with confidence — and that matters more than most places give it credit for.

Connors is a reliable steakhouse wine list that knows its audience and plays to it without apology. Send a friend here for a special occasion if they want familiar names and a nice room — just don't send them expecting to be surprised.

Il Lusso is legitimately the best wine destination in Tallahassee, and it would hold its own in far larger markets. Pricing runs steep, and you'll want to do your homework before ordering — but the bones of this list are excellent, the Italian selections are the real story, and it absolutely deserves a trip.
