Chef Giorgio Todisco trained at culinary school in San Pellegrino, Italy, and has served authentic Italian food on Main Street since 1996. The wine list is an all-Italian affair focused on quality rather than volume: Chianti, Barolo, Valpolicella, Pinot Grigio from Friuli, and Southern Italian selections chosen to complement pasta, veal, and fresh seafood.
A tiny, intimate space that feels like a trattoria in Bergamo. Staff guide wine pairings with genuine Italian hospitality. Entrées run $22 to $28. Locals have kept this place to themselves for three decades. The Italian commitment extends from the kitchen through the glass.

Soby's has one of the most legitimately impressive wine programs in the entire Southeast, and the fact that it's anchored in Greenville rather than a major metro makes it worth a detour on its own.
