Wingman Metrics
The Lazy Goat's wine list is exclusively Old World and Mediterranean, spanning Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece, Lebanon, Israel, and Morocco. Roughly 350+ wines deep. It has won Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence every year since 2013. Beverage director Joe Crossnan (who oversees all Table 301 wine programs) is a true collector. By-the-glass options run $9 to $15, and half-price bottled wines every Thursday at dinner is one of the best deals in the Southeast.
Grower Champagne from Benoit Dehu, Ruppert-Leroy, and Georges Remy Grand Cru Bouzy. Deep Barolo from Luciano Sandrone Le Vigne, Paolo Scavino, and Fratelli Alessandria Gramolere going back multiple vintages. Serious Burgundy: Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier 1er Cru, Domaine Marquis d'Angerville. Full verticals of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Brunello di Montalcino. The crown jewels include Pingus ($2,500), Clos Erasmus, and Château Musar back to 1998. Monthly wine dinners (a recent one featured Famille Pierre Usseglio with seven wines at $150/person) add depth.
A casual Mediterranean restaurant on the river with 350+ exclusively Old World wines, grower Champagne, collector-level Barolo and Burgundy, and half-price bottles every Thursday. The sheer depth of this list in a mid-range restaurant is staggering. The food is shareable and the setting is beautiful.
Thursday — Half-price bottled wines at dinner
The Bottom Line
The Lazy Goat hides one of the deepest Old World wine programs in the South behind a casual Mediterranean menu and river views. Half-price Thursdays turn collector bottles into steals. A genuine destination wine list.
Downtown Greenville · Greenville · Greek and Mediterranean
Kouzina is a counter-service gyro spot with a Greek wine list that would embarrass a lot of full-service restaurants — that's the Wild Card situation right there. If you're anywhere near Greenville and curious about what Greece actually tastes like in a glass, this is a weirdly perfect place to find out.

The Jones Oyster Co. is doing something genuinely thoughtful with wine in a market that doesn't always demand it, and the Loire-forward approach earns real respect. It's not a destination wine list, but if you're eating oysters in downtown Greenville, you're in good hands.

Ruth's Chris Greenville is a reliable machine — the wine list won't challenge you, staff won't geek out with you, and you'll probably pay more than you should. But if you want a well-stored Napa Cab with a perfect ribeye and zero surprises, it delivers every time.

Firebirds is a reliable wine stop if you're already there for dinner and want something familiar done reasonably well — just don't expect the list to challenge or surprise you. Send a friend here for the filet; warn them to skip the Chardonnay markup.

Larkin's on the River is a reliable spot if you want a crowd-pleasing California Cab with your steak and don't mind paying a premium for the Falls Park backdrop. Don't come expecting the wine list to surprise you — come for the river view and order the Jordan.

Soby's has one of the most legitimately impressive wine programs in the entire Southeast, and the fact that it's anchored in Greenville rather than a major metro makes it worth a detour on its own. If you're anywhere near South Carolina and you care about wine, you owe yourself a seat at this table.

Meddys West is here for the food, and the wine list knows it. If you're looking for something to wash down your meal without drama, the $8 glass is fine — just don't come here expecting the wine to be the point.

Dametra is a lively Carmel institution that takes its bottle list more seriously than its casual vibe suggests — the markups sting, but the range is genuinely interesting and a few bottles here are worth seeking out. Send a friend who wants something special with dinner, just tell them to skip the Caymus.

Meridia has the setting, the concept, and the menu to deserve a genuinely interesting wine list — instead it serves up resort-hotel boilerplate at punishing markups. Order the paella, drink the cocktails, and save the serious wine for somewhere that cares.
