Wingman Metrics
Do not let the East Cobb strip-mall location fool you. Stem is run by Advanced Sommelier Brian Teague, and the wine program is world-class for any venue, let alone a casual wine bar. The list breaks varietals into Classic and Adventurous categories, making it approachable for newcomers while rewarding experienced drinkers. Enomatic wine dispensers keep rare, pricier reds fresh, allowing 3-ounce and 6-ounce pours of bottles you would normally have to commit to. Bordeaux, Napa Cabernet, and Burgundy by the taste.
The food menu (shrimp al ajillo, duck confit salad, braised short ribs) is designed to pair with the wine program. Regular wine dinners and educational events round out the experience. The staff knows the list because the Advanced Sommelier who built it is usually in the room.
The Enomatic dispensers are the unlock. Taste a $150 Napa Cab in a 3-ounce pour for a fraction of the bottle price. Then compare it to a Bordeaux at the same level. That side-by-side education is worth the drive to Marietta. Ask Brian what is drinking best right now. He will know.
🔥 The Bottom Line
Stem Wine Bar is the best-kept wine secret in metro Atlanta. An Advanced Sommelier, Enomatic rare pours, and a program that would be a destination in Buckhead. The fact that it is in a Marietta strip mall just makes it a better story.
West Midtown · Atlanta · Alpine / European
Avize is doing something genuinely rare in Atlanta: building a short wine list with actual conviction, pointed straight at the corners of Europe that deserve more attention. If you eat here and don't order something you've never heard of, you're doing it wrong.

By George is a fine place to drink wine if you know what you're walking into — a curated-but-safe list built for a stylish crowd that wants rosé and bubbles without friction. Come for the Crémant and the Tavel; don't expect to find anything that'll make you rethink your relationship with wine.

Nine Mile Station isn't a destination for wine nerds, but it's a perfectly decent place to drink something cold and recognizable while the Atlanta skyline does the heavy lifting. Come for the view, drink the Crémant, ignore the Rombauer.

Vin Atl is doing something most Atlanta wine bars aren't: curating a short list with genuine intention instead of padding it with safe bets. At these prices, it's worth a stop even if you only come for one bottle.

St. Julep is a place to drink wine, not a place to drink well. If you're here for the skyline and the scene, pour the rosé and enjoy it — just don't come expecting the list to surprise you.

BeltLine · Atlanta · Cocktail Bar with Kitchen
The James Room is a cocktail bar first and a wine destination never — but the list is competent enough to get you through a bottle without frustration. Come for the atmosphere, order the Cava or the Sancerre, and let the cocktail menu handle the heavy lifting.

Legacy West · Plano · Wine Bar
CRÚ Plano punches well above its Legacy West strip-mall setting — 300 bottles and a genuinely active specials calendar make this worth a dedicated visit, not just a last-resort pour before the movie. Just don't come looking for Burgundy and you'll leave happy.

Seven Hills · Henderson · Wine Bar
The Cask is a genuinely pleasant place to spend an evening — the vibe is right, the crowd is friendly, and the bar snacks do their job. But the wine list is overpriced brand recognition, not a curated program, and no amount of Tuesday specials changes the math on a $40 Josh Cellars.

Eastern & Sunset Corridor · Henderson · Wine Bar
Todd's is the kind of neighborhood wine bar Henderson needed — comfortable, well-run, and staffed by people who know what's in the bottle. The markups are real and the list won't surprise anyone, but if you want a reliably good glass of California wine and a solid small plate to go with it, this place delivers.
